Newswise — Washington, D.C.- - The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) has selected the University of Memphis to host the 2017 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). This esteemed event brings together more than 3,000 students and their faculty mentors for a three day conference. NCUR provides students with the opportunity to present their scholarly research in a professional setting and interact with their peers, in addition to meeting with graduate school and corporate recruiters. The event will take place in Memphis, Tennessee, April 5-8, 2017.

While discussing the selection, Elizabeth Ambos, CUR’s Executive Officer stated “The University of Memphis provided an excellent proposal that highlighted the commitment of the campus faculty, staff, and administrators to the culture and practice of undergraduate research, and the strong partnership between the university and local business and civic communities. On behalf of the Council of Undergraduate Research, allow me to express my pleasure at the prospect of working with the University of Memphis to prepare what I know will be an outstanding 2017 conference.” NCUR is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study, and undertaken in all types of academic institutions. Through this annual conference, NCUR creates a unique environment for the celebration and promotion of undergraduate student achievement, provides models of exemplary research and scholarship, and helps to improve the state of undergraduate education.

CUR would also like to express its appreciation for the support of undergraduate research to the 2014, 2015, and 2016 NCUR hosts. The University of Kentucky will host the event this spring, April 3-5, 2014. And the 2015 and 2016 events will be held on the campuses of Eastern Washington University, and the University of North Carolina-Asheville, respectively..
