Has been a guest professor at the Wharton School, as well as business schools in London, Finland and Germany. Has done management consulting for General Motors, Eli Lilly, Inland Steel, Bechtel and numerous other corporations and law firms.

* Is an expert on computer-aided manufacturing and robotics. Research includes development of software to resolve automatically conflicts that arise in the design of new facilities, such as manufacturing plants. Has written more than 200 articles and written or edited six books, two of which won North American Publishers' awards: Handbook of Industrial Robotics and International Encyclopedia of Robotics. Is director of Purdue's Production Robotics and Integration Software for Manufacturing (PRISM) program.

* Can discuss computer applications for inventory, manufacturing and distribution, and the changes the Internet will bring to companies and individuals in the future. Was founding director of Purdue's Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises. Is the co-author of a book on production and inventory control and numerous articles for academic journals. Is founding and current editor of the journal Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and an associate editor for Management Science journal. Has worked as a systems analyst for IBM and a consultant for Ernst and Ernst.
