Newswise — Moravian will host a panel discussion sponsored by The Morning Call with three of the hottest "bloggers" on the Web from Wonkette.com, DailyKos.com, and Powerlineblog.com, who will discuss politics and journalism on the Internet in a forum at the College. The Morning Call's "Blog the Vote: Panel Discussion on How Politics, Journalism and the Internet Mix" will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 7 p.m., in Foy Concert Hall on the Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus in historic Bethlehem. The forum will be free and open to the public, and will feature a free, wireless Internet network for the duration of the discussion. The audience is invited to bring wireless-capable laptops and blog about the panel as it unfolds.
Ana Marie Cox, editor of wonkette.com, was featured on the cover of the New York Times Magazine on Sunday, Sept. 26. A former editor at The Chronicle of Higher Education and writer for Suck.com, Cox's irreverent and often profane blog garners 430,000 page views a week.
Markos Moulitsas is the founder of dailykos.com, among the most popular liberal blogs. Moulitsas was another subject of the New York Times magazine story. He blogged the Democratic and Republican national conventions, and has consulted on Democratic campaigns.
John Hinderaker is a contributor to powerlineblog.com. An attorney from Minneapolis, Minn., Hinderaker posts as "Hindrocket" to his blog, which rose to fame after repeatedly questioning the validity of documents used by CBS News to report on President Bush's National Guard service. CBS News anchor Dan Rather eventually apologized for the reporting, saying the network should have been more careful. Hinderaker and Powerline were profiled in Time Magazine.
