Newswise — CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia — 19 June 2014 — The University of Virginia Darden School of Business today announced the election of several new leadership board members, who will serve the school as advisers in various capacities. The five leadership boards of the Darden School of Business comprise more than 140 distinguished leaders who collectively serve as an innovative force in the advancement of the Darden School throughout the world.

Following is new leadership board member of the Dean’s Diversity Advisory Council (DDAC).

Daniele Wilson (MBA ’11), associate brand manager at Johnson & Johnson, began serving on DDAC in October 2013. Wilson is the associate brand manager of Neosporin at Johnson & Johnson, responsible for leading the development of new innovation, media and communication, and business strategy for the brand. Wilson started her career at J&J two and a half years ago on the K-Y® brand. She also serves as the J&J Consumer Sector lead for diversity recruiting at the NBMBAA Conference and is a member of the J&J Diversity and Inclusion team. She holds an MBA from Darden, and in 2005 she graduated with a B.S. in advertising from the University of Florida. Wilson currently resides in South Orange, New Jersey.

Following are the seven new members appointed to the Global Advisory Council. These individuals include: Ed Casey, Serco Group, PLC; Jim Chapman, Dominion Resources; Halsey Cook Jr., Legrand North America; Rosemary King, education sector investor/adviser; Ichiro Suzuki, Nomura Asset Management; Jimmy Wei, KPCB China; and Baocheng Yang, Huanghe Science and Technical University.

Ed Casey (MBA ’84) is acting group chief executive officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Serco Group PLC, an $8 billion services company traded on the London Stock Exchange and operating in more than 30 countries with more than 120,000 employees. Casey was appointed to the group chief executive officer role in October 2013 from his position as chair and chief executive officer of Serco Inc., a leading provider of professional, technology and management services to government and commercial customers in the U.S. and Canada. Previously, he was president and chief operating officer of Tenneco Energy, which was sold to El Paso Energy for $4 billion. Casey has more than 30 years of experience as a growth-oriented business executive, financier and entrepreneur. He began his career in investment banking, specializing in mergers and acquisitions at The Blackstone Group and Smith Barney, and was a managing director at UBS Warburg LLC, where he provided investment banking services to large capitalization companies. He holds an A.B. in economics from Harvard and an MBA from Darden.

Jim Chapman (MBA ’00) has more than 20 years of experience in international corporate finance and M&A, primarily focused on the power and energy industry, including recent roles as managing director, head of Asia Pacific Power & Utilities Investment Banking at Barclays and similar roles at Barclays and Lehman Brothers. His transaction experience includes some $40+ billion of M&A, debt and equity underwriting transactions in the United States, China, India, Malaysia, Australia, Korea, New Zealand, Russia and other markets. He holds a B.A. in history and political science from Auburn University and an MBA from Darden. Following more than eight years in Asia, five in New York and five in Russia, Chapman recently relocated to his hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, with his wife and three children. He currently is managing director of corporate finance and M&A at Dominion Resources, an approximately $60 billion power and energy firm based in Richmond, Virginia.

Halsey Cook Jr. (MBA ’91) is president of the Electrical Wiring Systems Division of Legrand in North America. He is based in West Hartford, Connecticut, and is responsible for all P&L activities and the leadership teams for the Cablofil, Pass & Seymour, Wiremold, Nuvo and OnQ brands, as well as EWS functional leadership in sales, operations, strategic sourcing, finance, strategic marketing, IT and human resources. He is responsible for six manufacturing locations in China, Mexico and the United States. Legrand is a publically traded French company and a worldwide leader in electrical and data communication infrastructure products for home and business applications. Prior to joining Legrand, Cook spent 16 years with Carrier, a division of United Technologies Corporation. At Carrier, Cook was president of Carrier’s Residential and Light Commercial Systems. During his tenure with Carrier, Cook held numerous general management and marketing positions in the United States and spent 10 years in the European and Middle East organization, holding roles in sales, marketing and general management in France, Italy and the U.K. Cook is a graduate of The University of The South, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics and English, cum laude, and of Darden, where he received his MBA. He serves as a trustee of the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut.

Rosemary ‘Ro’ King (MBA ’91) has more than 20 years of experience in marketing using big data, initially in financial services as senior vice president with Signet/First Union/Wells Fargo and later, across a broad range of industries as a consultant and senior engagement manager for Quaero. After selling Quaero in 2009, King continues to write about issues in customer relationship management and teaches seminars on global customer experience management. She currently invests and advises in the for-profit education sector. King is the former chair of the Indonesian Heritage Society, where she doubled funding and created a sustainable publications program. As an adviser to SOKOLA and former board member of the Sampoerna Foundation, she supports educational initiatives in remote areas of Indonesia. She currently serves on the board of the Menokin Foundation in Virginia and is a member of First Generation Harvard Alumni. While living and working in Indonesia, China, Portugal and Switzerland, King has edited more than a dozen books, written numerous articles about vanishing ethnic groups, and produced photography exhibitions on Balinese and Papuan rituals. She holds an A.B. in history from Harvard University, an MBA from Darden, and recently received her Diplôme de Sommellerie en vin and Diplôme de Juré Expert at L’Ecole d’Ingénieurs de Changins, Switzerland.

Ichiro Suzuki (MBA ’84) is senior portfolio manager at Nomura Asset Management and has been with Nomura since 1986. He has 25 years of experience in equity investments in North America, Europe, Asia/Pacific and emerging markets for institutional and retail clients on a global base. For two years after graduating from Darden, and prior to joining Nomura, Suzuki was a credit analyst for Chase Manhattan Bank. He also served as an assistant brand manager with Procter & Gamble for two years prior to his Darden experience.

Jimmy Wei (MBA ’02) joined KPCB China as a venture partner in April 2012. His primary interest is building new companies in China in the area of life sciences. Prior to joining KPCB, Wei was the senior vice president and head of business development at Hutchison MediPharma, and he led the effort to set up multiple partnerships with U.S. and European pharmaceutical companies. Before joining Hutchison in 2007, Wei was the deputy general manager of Burrill China Group, where he managed Burrill’s business activities related to the greater China region. Prior to Burrill, Wei was the vice president for WI Harper Group where he oversaw the firm’s life sciences investment. He also worked for McKinsey & Company in the Shanghai office as a management consultant. Prior to his business career, Wei conducted R&D for several leading research organizations, including Duke University Medical Center and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Wei received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from North Carolina State University. He also received an MBA from Darden and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wuhan University.

Dr. Baocheng Yang (MBA ’04) is currently working as provost and CFO with HHSTC, China’s first private university certified by the Chinese government. Yang went to college at age 14 and graduated from Peking University with an M.S. in chemistry. He continued his study in the United States and earned a Ph.D. in Polymer Science at the University of Connecticut. After working in the pharmaceutical industry for a few years, Yang chose to pursue his MBA at the Darden School. Upon graduation from Darden, he joined a startup hedge fund and soon became the core research leader of the company. In 2007, Yang returned to China and started his new career, assisting his mother, HHSTC’s current chair of the board and previous president, to manage this family-built — and one of China’s best and biggest — private universities.
