Politics

Arab/Israeli politics and political terrorism is the specialty of Mark Miller, professor of political science and international relations. He is currently teaching a course on Arab/Israeli relations.

World affairs is the specialty of former CNN world correspondent Ralph J. Begleiter, now UD's Distinguished Journalist in Residence.

U.S. defense and foreign policy are specialties of Kenneth J. Campbell, assistant professor of political science and international relations.

Emergency response

Emergency management in New York City and the emergency response during the first bombing of the World Trade Center are topics Richard Sylves, professor of political science and international relations, has written on extensively. His area of expertise is disaster policy and emergency management.

Emergency response is the specialty of Russell Dynes, professor emeritus at UD's Disaster Research Center.

Airline and airport operations is a specialty of Ardeshir Faghri (pronounced fog-re), associate professor of civil and environmental engineering and the director of the Delaware Center for Transportation Studies. His areas of expertise include transportation systems engineering, systems design and operation.

How schools and parents should talk to children about events and their fears is the specialty of Kathleen Minke, associate professor of school psychology and a licensed psychologist.

The effects of fear and anxiety are specialties of Jeff Rosen, associate professor of psychology.

The effect of the tragedy on college students can be dicussed by experts John Bishop, Charles Beale or Jonathan Lewis, of the UD Center for Counseling and Student Development.

Television news content and the media's coverage of crime is the specialty of Danilo Yanich, policy scientist with the Center for Community Development and Family Policy, is an expert in television news content and the news media's coverage of crime.

Economic ramifications of the crisis can be discussed by James L. Butkiewicz, chairperson of the Department of Economics.

Financial institutions, corporate finance, capital markets and institutions are specialties of Helen Bowers, associate professor of finance. Currently in London, she can talk about how the markets in the U.S. and Europe are reacting.
