INFO: Professor Hungdah Chiu, who died earlier this year at age 75, may have been the most prolific writer ever on the University of Maryland law school faculty. His influence on the study of international law literally helped define the relationship between China and Taiwan. Among his acolytes is Taiwan’s president, MA Ying-jeou. Chiu’s life and scholarship will be honored with this symposium exploring China, Taiwan, and international law. The symposium is sponsored by the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law’s Maryland Journal of International Law, East Asian Legal Studies Program, and International & Comparative Law Program. The Gerber Lecture, a forum for major players in international law, this year features Professor Harold Koh. It is sponsored by the School’s International & Comparative Law Program, the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security, and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. http://www.law.umaryland.edu/faculty/conferences/detail.html?conf=116 http://www.law.umaryland.edu/about/features/koh_gerber_lecture.html
