Newswise — Wake Forest University LGBTQ Center Director Angela Mazaris is available to comment on the Justice Department's notice that federal officials view the HB2 as violating the Civil Rights Act.

Mazaris says the Justice Department's intervention makes sense given the impact on students across the state. She also can talk broadly as an advocate on behalf of the LGBTQ community. Mazaris is the founding director of the LGBTQ Center at Wake Forest University, where she also teaches in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program. As LGBTQ Center Director, she provides education, advocacy, and support to the campus community around issues of gender identity and sexual orientation.

She has provided expert commentary for a wide range of media outlets since HB2 was passed in March, including this op-ed, which ran in the Winston-Salem Journal.

Mazaris is available for phone interviews evening of 5/4 and broadcast interviews from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in campus studio.
