Newswise — The American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) recently awarded Cleveland Clinic’s EMG Laboratory Accreditation With Exemplary Status.
Cleveland Clinic Laboratory Director, Kerry Levin, MD said, “Accreditation of the Cleveland Clinic EMG laboratory lets our patients know that we meet the highest standards of testing, as judged by the leading EMG society in the United States.” The Cleveland Clinic joins 108 other Accredited Laboratories in 40 states.
AANEM is pleased to award Cleveland Clinic and its six satellite laboratories accredition. AANEM Director of Professional Standards, Darren Burchill, JD said, “It’s really exciting for us to accredit our first large academic institution and see this program recognized and valued across all practice types.”
The AANEM used best practice EDX standards to establish its laboratory accreditation criteria to ensure patients receive quality medical care in a safe environment. Laboratory accreditation provides patients, referral sources, and payers with a credible measure to differentiate the laboratory’s quality of care.
The accreditation standards evaluate the EDX providers’ education and certification, diagnostic services, and clinical operations essential to providing quality patient care.
