Newswise — John H. Farley, M.D., Army Lt. Col., a Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) alumnus received a Minority Access National Alumnus Role Model Award during the Seventh Annual National Role Models Conference in Las Vegas, Nev., Sept. 17-20.

Dr. Farley received the award for his work on eliminating health disparities in the minority community. The National Role Models Conference is an opportunity for minority individuals in research fields, particularly biomedical and health related science fields and their supporters to gain recognition for their accomplishment in research.

Dr. Farley graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the United States Military Academy at West Point, majoring in chemistry. He then attended USU, graduating from the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine in 1991. Following residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., Dr. Farley served as an obstetrician-gynecologist at Martin Army Community Hospital in Ft. Benning, Ga. He was then awarded a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
