Newswise — Through Babson College’s Initiative on Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, the Human Freedom Entrepreneurial Leadership Program held its first annual Human Freedom Entrepreneurial Leadership Program Competition on May 13, 2016 at Babson’s Wellesley campus.

The Human Freedom Entrepreneurial Leadership Program launched this spring semester as a sister program to the Boston Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy. The program aims to train and inspire the next generation of anti-trafficking business leaders and entrepreneurs at the high school level.

This spring the program was taught in multiple Boston-area schools. Students have learned to think of entrepreneurial solutions to human trafficking and ultimately craft a strategic business plan to address the issue. In the fall, the program will grow to involve seven local schools.

Schools participating in this year’s Human Freedom Entrepreneurial Leadership Program:

• Boston College High School, Boston• KIPP Academy, Lynn• Fontbonne Academy, Milton• Wareham Public High School, Wareham• International School of Boston, Cambridge

The inaugural Davis Spencer Freedom Innovation Award was awarded to the team of students with the best business plan along with $500 towards the start of their proposed business.
