Newswise — Clarkson University is once again among the top universities in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report. In its recent edition of America's Best Graduate Schools 2007, U.S. News ranks Clarkson's School of Engineering 23rd overall in the engineering specialty of environmental/environmental health and 54th in civil engineering.
Each year, U.S. News ranks a variety of professional-school programs, including engineering. Rankings are based on expert opinion about program quality and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research and students. Data for rankings comes from nearly 1,300 graduate programs, and approximately 9,600 academics and professionals.
"Through focusing on engineering issues of national interest under the motto of "Technology Serving Humanity," and by taking an approach to education that emphasizes fundamental, as well as hands-on learning, the University is able to provide its students with the engineering training and research opportunities that will make them successful leaders in their chosen fields," remarked Goodarz Ahmadi, interim dean of Clarkson's Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering."
Clarkson was ranked among the Best National Universities in U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges 2006 issue this past August. The University was recognized as one of the "Best Engineering Programs" whose highest degree is a doctorate. In addition, the 2005 rankings Web site recognized Clarkson as offering one of the "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs" in the nation and ranked the Clarkson School of Business 19th in the nation for its supply chain management program.
