Debra JacobsonProfessorial Lecturer in LawMs. Jacobson has worked in the fields of energy and environmental law for more than 25 years. During her career, she worked on the National Energy Policy Act of 1978, the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1977, served as a counsel to the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and participated in major investigations of the EPA, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Justice. Ms. Jacobson has also served as an assistant to senior officials of the Department of Energy and is currently a consultant in the field of renewable energy.

Stuart LichtProfessor of ChemistryDr. Licht is available to speak about renewable energy chemistry and physical and analytical chemistry. His esearch focuses on chemical solutions to renewable energy challenges, which face the global community.

Lee PaddockAssociate Dean for Environmental StudiesProfessorial Lecturer in LawMr. Paddock served as director of environmental legal studies at Pace University Law School from 2002-2007. He also has been senior consultant for the National Academy of Public Administration on several projects since 1999. From 1978 until 1999, Mr. Paddock was an assistant attorney general with the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office, where he served as director of environmental policy for 13 years, managed the office’s agriculture and natural resources division and was a member of its executive committee.

David RainAssistant Professor of GeographyDr. Rain is an expert in population and environment, as well as international urban geography, geographic information systems and international development. Dr. Rain teaches related courses including “Society and Environment.”

Frank SesnoDirector of the School of Media and Public AffairsProfessor of Media and Public Affairs and International AffairsMr. Sesno is an Emmy-award winning journalist as well as host and creator of Planet Forward, a ground-breaking web-to-television show on PBS. With more than 30 years of experience, including 18 years at CNN where Sesno served as White House correspondent, anchor and Washington Bureau Chief. He teaches how the media affects the creation of public policy and is a host and producer of in-depth specials and mini-series on PBS and The History Channel.

Stephen SmithDirector of the Institute for International Economic Policy Professor of Economics and International AffairsDr. Smith’s work focuses on economic development, with a special focus on solutions to extreme poverty. Mark StarikChair, Department of Strategic Management and Public PolicyProfessor of Strategic Management and Public PolicyDr. Starik is an expert in environmental management and business and strategic management. His areas of focus are strategic environmental management, international environmental policy, environmental sustainable development and sustainable tourism. He is affiliated with the Academy of Management Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE) interest group. He also teaches business courses focused on environmental policy and sustainable organizations. He is co-chair of GW’s Sustainability Taskforce.

Kenneth ZweibelDirector, Institute for the Analysis of Solar EnergyMr. Zweibel was the recent president and senior photovoltaic (PV) technologist for PrimeStar Solar. He helped develop low-cost electricity at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Lab. He has since moved his focus to raising awareness of solar possibilities.
