Consider the Source on Anthrax Info

Today, many television programs, Internet sites and newspapers are feeding the public information on anthrax. However, consider where the information is coming from before taking it to heart. "Make sure you are getting information from reliable sources," says Lisa Craft McCormick, MPH, instructor for the upcoming class Responding to Anthrax Calls for Emergency Personnel at UAB's Center for Labor Education and Research. "Scientists, government briefings and most TV newscasts are dependable because they are either direct sources of information or at least check with reliable sources before relay it to the public. Beware of sensationalism on television talk shows, in tabloid newspapers and especially on the Internet. These groups don't always give correct information and do more to feed public hysteria than they do to convey reliable knowledge."
