“We are the first international association focused on supporting worksite wellness practitioners with case studies, best practices and professional networking,” said Estey. “A practitioner in Miami or Boston, for example, looking to engage Hispanic employees can learn and apply proven health promotion strategies by networking with worksite wellbeing managers in Mexico.”
The IAWHP also elected Alberto Ogata, MD as president-elect, who will drive global education and sponsorship strategies. Dr. Ogata is the scientific director of the Brazilian Association of Quality of Life (ABQV) and member of the editorial board for the American Journal of Health Promotion.
Stephen Cherniak, health management consultant with Marsh & McLennan will serve as the association’s secretary/treasurer. Steve brings more than 30 years of worksite health and wellness experience, including wellness strategy, incentive design and program measurement.
The International Association for Worksite Health Promotion (IAWHP) has been established as an affiliate society to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). IAWHP facilitates the advancement of the global community of worksite health promotion practitioners through high-quality information, services, educational activities, personal and professional development and networking opportunities.
