Will airplanes fall from the skies at midnight on December 31, 1999? How many lives will be saved when defibrillators soon appear on airlines? The Y2K issue and heart defibrillators on airplanes will be some of the topics discussed at this year's annual SMU Air Law Symposium sponsored by the Journal of Air Law and Commerce at Southern Methodist University.

Attorneys, insurance professionals and other aviation experts from across the globe will be on hand to discuss issues concerning recent developments in aviation law, insurance liability, pilot certification and other airline-industry related issues at a two-day symposium sponsored by the Southern Methodist University Journal of Air Law and Commerce. Morning sessions begin daily at 9:15 a.m.

Former American Airlines Chairman Robert Crandall will speak at a noon luncheon on Friday. His speech will be preceded by a presentation by April Robbins at 11 a.m. about the Y2K problem as it pertains to aviation and by a presentation by Robert F. Ruckman at 11:30 a.m. about the use of portable defibrillators on airplanes.
