WHAT: The 24th annual Cedars-Sinai Sports Spectacular brings together the greatest names in sports and entertainment to join their peers in helping children suffering from genetic birth defects. The event hosts more than 1,800 prominent sports figures, entertainers and business, civic and community leaders to honor the country's top sports stars while helping to combat genetic birth defects.

WHY: The annual dinner event and silent auction has provided over $18 million to benefit the world-renowned Medical Genetics Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The Institute's focus is to provide expert consultation and leading-edge research to find new and improved methods of diagnosis, prevention and treatment for all types of genetic disorders, including mental retardation, dwarfism, deafness and malformation syndromes, as well as common diseases of adulthood, such as heart disease, hypertension and diabetes.
