Newswise — If you ever wondered why those green leaves in your yard turn brilliant shades of scarlet and gold in the fall, you can find an explanation in a free brochure produced by the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF).

"Why Leaves Change Colors," explains how changes in temperature and daylight affect the leaves on the trees around us.

The pamphlet is part of the "Environmental Information Series," a public service effort by ESF. An online version of the brochure can be accessed at the college's Web site, http://www.esf.edu/pubprog/brochure/leaves/leaves.htm.
