Newswise — MAYWOOD, Ill. -- Mary Morrow, RN, PhD, ACNS-BC, has been named the chief nursing officer at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (GMH) of Loyola University Health System (LUHS). Dr. Morrow most recently served as the director of nursing administration for LUHS.
“Mary has been a key contributor to nursing practice at the Maywood campus,” said Trisha Cassidy, interim president, Loyola University Hospital, and president, GMH. “She played a vital role in leading the organization to earn Magnet designation for Loyola University Hospital and the outpatient facilities in 2009.”
Dr. Morrow has held a number of positions at area hospitals but has been employed at LUHS since 1994. During that time, she managed LUHS’ heart failure, cardiac rehabilitation and preventive cardiology programs among other areas.
Dr. Morrow also chaired LUHS’ American Heart Walk efforts, co-chaired the Nursing Research Council and oversaw the Joint Commission CORE measures project for acute heart attacks.
Dr. Morrow received her bachelor of science, master’s in nursing and PhD in nursing from Loyola University Chicago.
“Mary’s combined community hospital and academic experience make her a perfect fit for the nursing leadership role at Gottlieb,” Cassidy said. “This role will allow Mary to identify synergies in education, training and resources to benefit nursing services across the health system. This position also will bring the two campuses closer together to provide the best care for our patients.”
Dr. Morrow’s last day at the Maywood campus will be Friday, May 27. Her first day at GMH will be Wednesday, June 15.
