Newswise — MAYWOOD, Ill. – Loyola University Health System nurses and staff recently set aside time from their busy schedules to showcase their dancing talent in a Pink Glove Dance video. This video is part of the Pink Glove Dance phenomenon that is sweeping the nation in support of breast cancer research.
Loyola and several other hospitals have entered an online competition to find the hospital with the best video. Loyola nurses, physicians, breast cancer researchers and staff from across the health system came together to choreograph and rehearse before filming and submitting the video at the end of September.
“Loyola employees were thrilled to be a part of the Pink Glove Dance contest,” said Karen Pelletiere, RN, BSN, lung transplant coordinator, Loyola University Health System. “They had fun dancing for a good cause to get more people talking about breast cancer awareness.”
The winner will be announced on Friday, Nov. 2, and will receive $10,000 for a breast cancer charity of their choice. To vote for Loyola’s video, visit: http://pinkglovedance.com/competition/vote.php through Friday, Oct. 26. Voters must be logged into Facebook to cast their vote.
If Loyola is selected as the winner, the organization will put the funding toward breast cancer research at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine’s Oncology Institute.
The Oncology Institute supports basic science research in cancer and provides the structure to coordinate and integrate a truly multidisciplinary approach to cancer research and clinical care.
The Pink Glove Dance movement began three years ago when the original video was produced by a selection of hospitals across the country. That video has generated millions of views on YouTube and has inspired countless other Pink Glove Dance videos across the country. This competition was created and sponsored by Medline Industries, Inc.
