Camp Kesem GW provides a free summer camp for the children of cancer patients, where they can build self-esteem, form friendships, and learn how to positively cope with a loved one diagnosed with cancer. Camp Kesem focuses on providing a safe, fun, and free summer camp experience where kids can be kids, with the help of GW student volunteers who plan the camp program and work as camp counselors. A parent of two campers, ages 10 and 12, said that “Camp Kesem has been a life changing experience for [her] kids.” Camp Kesem GW’s summer 2013 camp program will take place August 18 – 23 at Camp Louise in Cascade, MD.
