The American Dental Association invites you to participate in a telephone news conference highlighting some of the most dynamic areas of dentistry: trends in cosmetic dental services such as tooth whitening; new technology that improves patient's understanding of their treatment options; and recent advancements in oral care for seniors and women.

Listen in and hear the latest trends in tooth whitening and other cosmetic procedures from the Annual ADA/Colgate Oral Health Survey. Dr. Christopher Fox of Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals and ADA Consumer Advisor Dr. Christine Dumas will discuss the results of the annual survey of dentists who attend the ADA Annual Session.

Imagine having a computer disk with your entire dental health history including pictures of your teeth during various stages of your life and voice recordings of your dentist's treatment recommendations. Arun Nayyar, D.M.D., M.S., of Augusta, Ga., will summarize his presentation, "New Technologies and Dental Operatory Design."

Should a dental check-up be part of the "to-do" list for women who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy? What other oral health challenges do women face as they go through puberty, pregnancy and menopause? Barbara J. Steinberg, D.D.S., of Philadelphia, an ADA spokesperson on women's oral health issues, will address the special medical and dental issues of female patients in "Women's Health: Medical and Dental Issues."

The nation's seniors comprise the fastest growing segment of the population. Find out how dentists are treating this unique patient group from Iowa prosthodontist Patrick Lloyd, D.D.S., who will highlight information from his presentation, "What's Old is New: Clinical Issues in Treating the Older Adult."

The telephone news conference will be moderated by ADA President Dr. Gary Rainwater and will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST. To register in advance to participate in the telephone news conference, call Chris Martin at 312/440-2855 by October 15 or call the Washington Convention Center Press Office at 202/371-4509 between October 18 and 20.
