Newswise — On June 4 and 5, 2009, Stony Brook University Medical Center specialists in cardiovascular medicine will hold the "Meeting of the Minds" Symposium, where leaders in the field discuss and debate issues on the latest advances in therapy for cardiovascular disease. Topics will include ablation therapy for arrhythmias, treatment options for aortic stenosis, and the powerful role of genomics in cardiovascular medicine. The symposium will be held at Guerney's Inn, Spa and Conference Center in Montauk, N.Y.

Stony Brook University Heart Center Co-Directors David L. Brown, M.D., Professor and Chief of Cardiology, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Todd Rosengart, M.D., Professor and Chief, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, will be the Course Directors of the program. Symposium issues will be discussed and debated through the prism of quantifiable outcomes and evidence-based medicine. Focusing on the latest clinical research, speakers will raise critical questions that provoke serious thought " all with the goal of improving patient care.
