Newswise — Neptune, NJ – November 12, 2014 – Dr. Ramon Solhkhah, chairman of Psychiatry at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and corporate medical director, Meridian Behavioral Health Services, will be honored by The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County (MHA) on Saturday, November 15 for his tremendous efforts to advocate, educate, and treat those affected by mental illness and drug addiction. The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County, NJ is an affiliate of Mental Health America, the country’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness and improving the care and treatment of persons affected by mental illness.

Through his work at Meridian Health and participation at outreach events and educational forums, Dr. Solhkhah provides the community with important information about heroin and prescription painkiller addiction, drug abuse prevention, and effective treatment options. He is also recognized for his tireless efforts to fight the discrimination that often surrounds mental illness.

The event is themed Fall Celebracíon – Viva La Vida, and will take place on Saturday, November 15 at Raven & the Peach in Fair Haven. Guests will enjoy a Spanish themed menu with tapas and stations, sangria, open bar, silent auction, and entertainment by The Haven. Proceeds from the event will support MHA’s free programs and services that are available to all families in Monmouth County.
