Newswise — UC San Diego Health System has been recognized as having 83 Top Doctors in more than 30 specialties by U.S. News & World Report. Based on a peer nomination process, UC San Diego Health System’s results represent the majority of San Diego physicians recognized by their colleagues locally and nationally as being a top doctor and worthy referral.

U.S. News & World Report’s Top Doctors was created in collaboration with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., publisher of America’s Top Doctors and other consumer health guides. It draws from Castle Connolly’s database of Top Doctors, all recommended for their clinical skills by other doctors and individually vetted by a physician-led research team. Consumers can search for a Top Doctor by location, hospital affiliation, and a full range of specialties and subspecialties.
San Diego Health System was recently ranked #1 among San Diego’s adult hospitals and among “America’s Best Hospitals” according to U.S. News & World Report’s “2011 - 2012 Best Hospitals” issue. It is also recognized as a Most Wired Hospital by Hospitals and Health Networks and as one the nation’s top 15 major teaching hospitals by Thomson Reuters.
UC San Diego Health System recently opened the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, the region’s first institution dedicated to comprehensive heart care. In 2016, UC San Diego Health System will open Jacobs Medical Center, a 10-story, 490,000 square-foot facility in La Jolla. It will be home to approximately 245 patient beds and three new hospitals: the Cancer Hospital, the Hospital for Women and Infants, and the Hospital for Advanced Surgery.
