Newswise — The American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Lawrence H. Phillips, II, as the new Editor-in-Chief of Muscle & Nerve, the official journal of the AANEM. Dr. Phillips will be replacing Dr. Michael J. Aminoff, who has been the Editor of the journal since 1997.

Dr. Phillips is the Vice-Chair of Neurology and Professor of Neurology at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Princeton University and attended medical school at West Virginia University. Phillips performed his neurology residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and also completed an internship at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Having served two terms as a member of the editorial board of Muscle & Nerve, as an associate editor of The Journal of Clinical Neuromuscular Diseases, and served as an editorial reviewer for a number of other journals including Neurology, Journal of Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurology, and Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Dr. Phillips brings a wealth of editorial experience to his new post. He will assume his official duties as Editor-in-Chief in January of 2008.
