Nobel Prize Winner Eric Kandel Is Commencement Speaker

New York, May 9 -- Nobel Prize winner Eric R. Kandel is the keynote speaker at the commencement ceremonies of New York University School of Medicine on Thursday, May 11. Dr. Kandel received the Nobel Prize last year for his seminal work in the neurosciences, which has led to an understanding of the normal function of the brain and how disturbances in signal transduction can give rise to neurological and psychiatric diseases.

Dr. Kandel is a 1956 graduate of NYU School of Medicine. He has long been affiliated with Columbia University.

The commencement ceremonies begin at 2:30 p.m. in Carnegie Hall in New York City.
