One Industry That's Still Booming

Lucrative jobs often go unfilled because college students don't know the jobs or their $3.5 trillion-a-year industry exist. Industrial Distribution, which combines specialized marketing courses with specific engineering programs, puts graduates on a career track that may begin with $42,000 starting salaries and skyrocket in 20 months to more than $100,000 annually. "Distribution represents one-third of the economic activity in the United States, and with only 17 schools graduating students that are specifically qualified to work in this realm, the opportunities are endless," says Jay Smith, Ph.D., director of UAB's ID program, one of only two degree programs in the Southeast. March 24, ID professionals from across the country and Europe will attend the professional training seminar, the University of Industrial Distribution, at UAB. Leading industry experts are instructors and offer a variety of courses.
