Plotting a New Career Course

If your find your job less than fulfilling, it is possible to find a career better suited to your strengths and likes. All it takes is some thought and planning, says UAB marketing professor Mike Bowers, Ph.D.

"Over the course of a couple of weeks, think about and make a list of your strengths and the things that make you happy -- in your work, your home, your church or as a volunteer. You'll start to see patterns and themes emerging. Maybe it's working with animals or organizing events. Usually, there are things you can turn into a career." Professional career counseling also is an option.
