Product Success Starts With Research

Many people, including prospective entrepreneurs, think marketing refers to how a product is packaged and advertised. And they're right, but not completely, says UAB Professor of Marketing Michael Bowers, Ph.D. "It's old advice, but it's still true: marketing is having the right product, at the right price, at the right place at the right time. If you just create a product, put it in a flashy package and don't find out if anybody anywhere wants it, you're going to fail. You've got to start at the beginning, and that's with market research."
