Clement Darling, III, MD, of New York was elected 2011-2012 Treasurer of the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) on June 17, 2011 during the Vascular Annual Meeting® in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Darling is the Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, NY. He is also a Professor of Surgery at Albany Medical College and Chair of the Vascular Educational Endowment Fund.

“For many years, Dr. Darling has been a dedicated board member of the Society for Vascular Surgery,” said SVS President Richard P. Cambria. “He has a vision to advance SVS as the premiere professional association for vascular surgeons.”

Dr. Darling is Board Certified in both General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has appointments on many national and regional vascular surgery societies. He is on staff at Albany Medical Center Hospital, St. Peters Hospital in Albany, Albany Memorial Hospital and has privileges at hospitals in Glen Falls, Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Schenectady, and Troy, NY. He is President of The Vascular Group, PLLC, in Albany.

Dr. Darling’s vascular surgery specialties include surgical and medical treatment of PVD, open and endovascular abdominal aortic and thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair, peripheral and carotid open surgical and percutaneous interventions, venous surgery, and vascular access for ESRD. He is currently the principal or co-investigator on numerous clinical trials being performed at Albany Medical Center which include carotid stenting and endovascular repair of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms.

A graduate of Trinity College in Connecticut, he received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati Medical College. He completed his residency training at Harvard/Deaconess in Boston and his vascular surgery fellowship at Albany Medical Center, NY.
