ROSWELL PARK CANCER INSTITUTE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ANNOUNCED

BUFFALO, NY - David C. Hohn, MD, President and CEO, Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI), today announced the formation of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute Corporation (RPCIC) and the composition of the RPCIC Board of Directors under the direction of Board Chairman, Mr. Patrick P. Lee, Chairman and CEO of International Motion Control Inc.

The corporation was initiated by Governor George E. Pataki and enabled by the New York State Legislature in 1997, through legislation known as the Roswell Park Cancer Institute Corporation Act. Dr. Hohn noted that the purpose of that legislation was to give the Institute new flexibility to react to the changing health-care marketplace more efficiently than could be done as a State-operated entity.

"Without the assistance of the Governor and the advocacy of our Western New York State delegation in passing this historical legislation, I'm not sure Roswell Park Cancer Institute would have survived," said Dr. Hohn.

To provide oversight to the new corporation, the law provides for a Board of Directors to be appointed by the Governor and State Legislature. Mr. Patrick P. Lee has been appointed by Governor Pataki and has agreed to serve as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Lee, who is also the Director of the Buffalo Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank, has affiliations with the Empire State Development Corporation, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, the Western New York International Trade Council, the Leukemia Society and Canisius College. He also serves on the 11-member Roswell Park Alliance Foundation Board, and chairs its Investment Committee.

"The Governor recognized the importance of preserving Roswell Park Cancer Institute as one of the most effective cancer research and treatment facilities in the world. The Board and I share his commitment to this remarkable health care organization and will work very hard to ensure its continued success," said Mr. Lee.

Dr. Hohn announced that the other members appointed to the Board are: Dorcas Colvin, Associate Vice President for Human Resource Management at Buffalo State College; Robert Fine, Senior Member, Hurwitz & Fine, P.C.; Anne Gioia, Board Member, Roswell Park Alliance Foundation and co-founder of the Roswell Park Alliance; Donna Gioia, Board Member, Roswell Park Alliance Foundation and co-founder of the Roswell Park Alliance; Gordon Gross, Senior Partner, Gross, Shuman, Brizdle & Gilfillan, P.C.; Mary Louise Mallick, Director of Budget Studies, NYS Senate Finance Committee; Gregory Stamm, Senior Partner, Stamm, Reynolds & Stamm; Nora Sullivan, Executive Vice President, Rand Capital Corporation; George Yancey, President and Director, Perry's Ice Cream Co., Inc.

Roswell Park Cancer Institute, founded in 1898, is the nation's first and one of its largest cancer research, treatment and education centers, and is the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in Western New York. -30-
