Newswise — The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Administrator Pamela S. Hyde announced today the awarding of six new grants totaling up to $1.1 million over the next three years that will enhance state capacity and infrastructure to be more oriented to the needs of children and adolescents with a serious mental health condition.
Statewide Family Network Program grantees provide information, referrals, and support to families who have a child or adolescent with a serious mental health condition. The program also creates a mechanism for families to participate in planning and policy development at the state and local level.
“One of the most important things that we can do as a society is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up to lead a full, productive life,” said SAMHSA Administrator Hyde. “Through these grants, local organizations can provide the tools and skills that families of children with serious mental health conditions need to nurture their children.”
The six awardees will receive up to $70,000 per year for up to three years. The actual amount of funding is subject to the availability of funds.
