Newswise — San Francisco – October 17, 2012 – The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) has partnered with Applied Studios, LLC to raise awareness of and raise dollars for the SmartTots initiative which funds anesthesia research to ensure pediatric safety. Applied Studios has a mobile application called Stitches, an exhilarating game that incorporates a new take on an old classic that pits you against the clock in a game of nostalgia and skill. Users scrub in and take part in some of the most comical surgery ever performed.
The application is available for purchase at $.99 for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad through the Apple App Store. And Applied Studios is now donating 50% of the purchase price to SmartTots.

SmartTots is a multi‐year collaborative effort to increase the safety of anesthetic drugs for the millions of infants and children who undergo anesthesia each year. Early research suggests that some anesthetic drugs may be safer than others when administered to very young children, especially if they undergo multiple surgeries. SmartTots was launched to address the critical public health issues associated with the safe use of anesthesia and sedatives in young children and provide parents and doctors with the information they need when faced with such a dilemma.
