Newswise — The 50 million Americans who suffer from autoimmune disease now have the opportunity to get involved and raise research dollars by participating in a Teaneck, NJ Autoimmune Walk. The Walk will be held on Sunday, October 28th at Votee Park located at the corner of Queen Anne Road and Court Street. Walkers will meet at the Bandshell at 10 am.

Teaneck resident, Naomi Kadish, decided to plan a Walk to bring awareness to the severity of autoimmune disease. Funds raised will be donated to the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA).

“Living with an ambiguous autoimmune disease is a challenge. Therefore, I decided to move to action and raise money for research so other people won’t have to suffer,” says Kadish.

“Army Wives” Star and AARDA Spokesperson, actress Kellie Martin, is urging patients, their families and friends to join in the effort to bring awareness to the over 100 autoimmune diseases that plague Americans.

“Autoimmune disease affected my family in a terrible way when I lost my sister and best friend, Heather, to lupus in 1998,” explains Kellie. “Since Heather’s death, I have worked with AARDA to raise awareness of autoimmune diseases. Now I have the opportunity to invite others who have been affected to join the fight – and walk.” For additional details about this Sunday’s Teaneck, NJ Walk, please email Naomi at [email protected].
