Newswise — The Board of Directors of the Vascular Disease Foundation (VDF), the leading non-profit promoting vascular disease education and awareness, announced Robert Greenberg as the new chief executive officer effective October 17. This position will be based in Washington D.C.

The former executive vice president of the American Gastroenterological Association, Greenberg brings a track record of strategic visioning, organizational effectiveness, and revenue generation to ensure VDF’s future well into the 21st century.

As chief executive officer for VDF, Greenberg will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization, implementation of the board’s strategic vision, as well as establishing a national headquarters in Washington.

In his previous position, Greenberg created and sustained a long-term strategic vision, grew the organization from 4,000 to over 18,000 members while at the same time managing multi-million dollar budgets. Greenberg plans to bring that same focus and vision to VDF.

“VDF has a powerful message to spread about vascular disease,” said Greenberg. “I am excited to be a part of an organization that is poised to be THE source for vascular health information within the medical community and with the general public.”

Mr. Greenberg will be based in Washington, D.C. and begin to establish that city as the VDF’s new central headquarters. The Denver office will continue to work closely and Mr. Greenberg will be commuting between the two sites.

“The organization is on the cusp of a great expansion and a wider influence with both the general public and health care professionals alike,” said Robert McLafferty, MD, president of the VDF. “Robert is the perfect person to lead these efforts on our behalf.”

Greenberg holds a J.D. from The National Law Center, George Washington University and a B.A. from The American University School of International Service; and previously held a position at the American Society of Hospital (Health Systems) Pharmacists as vice president and general counsel.
