You've studied, memorized, recited and repeated everything you've learned from class. But on exam day your mind goes blank. As students prepare for the SAT's, ACT's and other exams, some will experience test anxiety. Adequate study is the first step toward beating exam jitters, says Sandra Jackson, a UAB counselor and study skills instructor.

"Once you've adequately studied the material, stay positive. Say 'stop' out loud or to yourself at the onset of any negative thought. Keep reminding yourself that you know the material. On exam day, before beginning the test, close your eyes and reflect. Breath in slowly and exhale, refocusing any negative energy."
