Newswise — With the launch of the debut "Go Huskies" application for Apple's iPhone platform, Northeastern University's Department of Athletics is leading the pack as one of the very first university athletics departments with an official, comprehensive application.

The application offers access to updated information, real-time statistics and multimedia features relating to Northeastern University Athletics and is available for free download from Apple's App Store.

The "Go Huskies" app provides instant access to Northeastern University Athletics news and headlines, as well as updated schedules and scores for individual teams. The app features the latest photos of athletics events and live-streaming access to student radio station, WRBB 104.9 FM, the home of Northeastern University Athletics.

Targeting current Northeastern University students, faculty and staff, as well as university alumni and prospective students, the "Go Huskies" app also provides users with direct links to purchase athletics merchandise and game tickets through the Northeastern University Athletics website.

"When fans can't make it to Northeastern games, we can now send our games to them," said George Gardner, associate director of Northeastern University Athletics. "We have co-op students, families and alumni located around the world. With our teams playing so well and heading to the play-offs, we wanted to ensure that the entire Northeastern community could share in the excitement. Whether relaxing at home or commuting to work, live statistics and game broadcasts are now available at the click of a button."

Gardner noted that new applications and software upgrades as well as additional features would continue to be added.
