Newswise — Chicago (Dec. 18, 2013): The Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) has been honored with the gold award in the Book/Manual/Catalogue category in Association TRENDS 2013 All-Media Contest for its publication, Telephone Triage Guidelines. It was one of nearly 470 entries in the association publications contest.

As the healthcare industry evolves from inpatient to outpatient centers, Telephone Triage Guidelines ensures that nurses are prepared when the telephone rings. Telephone triage nurses have become a critical component of pediatric hematology/oncology nursing and this publication serves as a resource for nursing support and professional development.

“We are very pleased to be honored with this prestigious award. With the support from our dedicated members and staff, Telephone Triage Guidelines is now an award-winning publication that supports nurses and promotes safe and quality care” says APHON President Jami Gattuso MSN RN CPON®.

The TRENDS All-Media Contest is an annual competition held exclusively for associations, recognizing the most creative and effective communication vehicles developed in the industry over the prior year. The 2013 competition included a record 467 entries in 22 categories of association communications.

APHON will be honored at the 35th Annual Salute to Association Excellence, to be held February 20, 2014 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC. The winning entry will be on display at the event, along with the other winners. As well as being honored at the Salute to Association Excellence, this year’s All-Media Contest winners will be featured in the January issue of TRENDS, and online.
