"NIH research funding has languished for years, having been been flat or cut since 2003," said ACT for NIH President Pat White. "Since we started ACT for NIH a little over a year ago, both the House and Senate Budget Resolutions have asserted NIH funding as a priority, House and Senate Appropriators have proposed the biggest NIH increases since 2003, both the House and Senate have formed NIH Caucuses, and the 21st Century Cures legislation, which passed the House last week by a vote of 344-77, would increase NIH funding by nearly 21 percent over the next three years. This is great news for patients, and it's great news for everyone working for more biomedical research, new cures, and therapies. We are on a path to restore NIH funding," White added.
