Rutgers Medical Expert Available to Comment on EAT-Lancet Commission Report on Plant-Based Diet and Sustainable Farming

Ron Weiss, assistant professor of clinical medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, is available to discuss the EAT Lancet Commission report, which calls for a substantial, worldwide shift to plant-based diets and sustainable farming by 2050, in order to promote human and environmental health.  The report’s recommendation will require doubling global consumption of fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes, and reducing foods like red meat and sugar by more than 50 percent.

“For those who have been listening to their mothers, it should come as no surprise that eating a lot of veggies and fruits is healthy. If our children and grandchildren are to survive and flourish during the next century, it is our generation’s responsibility to undo the abuses mankind perpetuates on the earth. The best place to start is by growing healthy whole plant foods using not just sustainable, but regenerative methods,” Weiss said.
