***Media Advisory for December 1***Conference Addressing Health Disparities Lesbian and Bisexual Women Encounter When Accessing Healthcare System

WHAT:

“Lesbian and Bisexual Women’s Health in Los Angeles County” offers presentations and a panel highlighting inclusive policies and practices promoting a welcoming environment, strong patient-provider relationships, and a safe space for women to disclose their sexual orientation which improves the quality of care. Because men’s health issues tend to dominate overall discussions of LGBTQ health, there is a need to focus on the unique issues of lesbians and bisexual women in order for health professionals to better address the challenges they face in the health care system. The event is open to health professionals, including nurses, social workers, and other allied health professionals, along with health educators, community health workers, volunteers, and other allies.
