Newswise — With increasing public concern about the safety and security of the food supply domestically and abroad, the not-for-profit scientific society Institute of Food Technologists is bringing together leading industry, academia and government experts to address mounting challenges of food safety at the second annual IFT International Food Safety and Quality Conference and Expo.

The three-day conference, "Engineering Success: Mastering the Science of Food From Producer to Consumer" Nov. 5-7 in Orlando, Fla., will provide a powerful forum for the complete analysis of food safety and security topics, and a focused and effective exchange on safety and quality among food-related professionals.

Running concurrently, a two-day exposition will feature exhibits by leading suppliers of instruments, professional services, processing technologies and packaging systems, all designed to protect and ensure food safety and quality. The schedule of events is as follows:

Technical sessions at the conference will include, but are not limited to: Pre-harvest controls"a first step in assuring a safe food supply; New and alternative technologies for microbial control to increase safety and quality; Reaching the consumer with food safety information.
