Hotline For Health

Some of the cheapest and most common foods in your grocery store may help you fight cancer, says registered dietitian Beth Kitchin, R.D., of UAB's EatRight Nutrition Information Service. "Increasingly, research supports the notion that many cancers may be preventable and nutrition may be a key player. Tomato sauce is high in lycopene, which may help prevent or slow the progress of prostate cancer. Many other fruits and vegetables may also have preventive powers." The Nutrition Information Service maintains the EatRight Nutrition Hotline to answer questions about good nutrition and health. Call the hotline at 1-800-231-3438.
