This is the first item in a new SeaGems jewelry line that Widman decided to create after a “life-altering” expedition to Antarctica in 2008 with the Institute’s Executive Director, Dr. Ellen Pikitch. Together, they witnessed the beauty of the world’s harshest, and least spoiled, marine environment.
“As I learned more about Dr. Pikitch’s mission to reverse the destruction of our oceans and their inhabitants, I was deeply affected,” Widman recalled. “As a jeweler and metalsmith, I was inspired to use my creativity and my business to further a cause that has such critical importance to the health of our planet and future generations.”
