Protecting The Protectors From Anthrax

How emergency responders can protect themselves from anthrax will be taught at a new class Nov 20 by the UAB Center for Labor Education and Research Workplace Safety Training Program. Responding to Anthrax Calls for Emergency Personnel is offered to fire department, law enforcement and other public service groups. "This class provides information specific to anthrax, including personal protective equipment, how to quickly and safely contain possible anthrax-laden letters and packages, and how to correctly decontaminate themselves," says instructor Lisa Craft McCormick, MPH. "We also want them to realize that on-the-spot identification testing kits now on the market may not work."
