As the benefits of Mindfulness gain attention in the media — from a study linking it to improved sleep in cancer survivors, to a Sunday profile in the New York Times — questions arise about the psychological practice. Dr. Michael Maslar, PsyD, is available to comment on issues surrounding Mindfulness practices.

Dr. Maslar, a licensed clinical psychologist, Assistant Professor, and Director of Mindfulness and Behavior Therapies at The Family Institute at Northwestern University, received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and graduate degrees from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Dr. Maslar has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Functional Analytic Psychotherapy, and other mindfulness and behavioral therapies. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, The Midwest DBT Team Leaders Group, and the Chicago DBT Consortium.
