A recent high-profile accident involving comedian Tracy Morgan highlights the connection between sleep and truck driver safety. The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has an expert who can address the issue.

Mark Burton, a research associate professor in the UT Department of Economics and faculty of the UT Center for Transportation Research, has conducted research in many aspects of truck driver safety. He notes that driver fatigue, particularly fatigue among all transportation workers, including airline pilots, is one of the most vexing problems today. Its consequences only grow more severe with increased vehicle congestion. mburton3@utk.edu or (865) 974-3303.
