The use of robotic technology in pediatric urology has been steadily evolving since its early adaptation 15 years ago. Today, robotic procedures are commonly used to treat adult urology patients, and surgeons are increasingly using the robotic technology to care for pediatric urology patients.
This educational initiative is led by a team of internationally recognized experts from the University of Chicago Medicine, including Dr. Mohan Gundeti, chief of pediatric urology; Dr. Arieh Shalhav, chief of urology; and Dr. Wendy Binstock, associate professor of anesthesia and critical care. A live case demonstration will be performed.
The two-day seminar comes as interest in pediatric robotic urology procedures increases in the clinical community. Robotic procedures have been shown to have faster recovery times and require less post-operative pain medication than conventional surgery.
The event will be streamed online for registered participants in India. There will also be a webcast reception at the University of Chicago Center in Delhi.
