Statement from AMGA Regarding the Administration’s Health Information Interoperability PledgeNewswise — ALEXANDRIA, VA – The American Medical Group Association (AMGA) in a letter to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services pledged to support interoperability of health information systems.

“We believe that healthcare information technology must be strengthened to allow for appropriate data mobility, addressing all obstacles to true interoperability,” said Donald W. Fisher, Ph.D., CAE, AMGA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “AMGA is pleased to join the group of pledges that include many integrated delivery systems, as well as electronic health vendors, and organizations representing providers and consumers. This effort by the Administration is appreciated and is considered a step in the right direction as health care is delivered in a more integrated fashion and effective care coordination is a top priority,” Fisher concluded.
