“What are you guys doing?”

“Putting on the foil.”

Newswise — For many hockey fans, this is one of the most recognizable exchanges in the history of sports movies, from – quite possibly - the most recognizable trio of hockey players ever to hit the ice. Who else would you want in your corner in the fight against cancer?

Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer is excited to announce that the Hanson Brothers will pick up their sticks and put on the foil at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday October, 1st, 2016 – all in the name of conquering cancer. Steve Carlson, who played Steve Hanson in the Hollywood blockbuster about the infamous Charlestown Chiefs hockey franchise, said, “Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer! That’s old-time hockey! Real hockey! The Hanson Brothers are taking on the world and it’s going to be an all-out war against this terrible disease!”

Since the event launched in 2011, Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer has raised more than $13 million dollars across Canada for cancer research at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. Each year, over 60 celebrities, including former NHLers, Olympians, music and entertainment icons, and media personalities join the fight to conquer cancer through Canada’s game.

Shawn Burt, Chief Hockey Officer at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, stated, “When it comes to sending a message in the fight against cancer, I can’t think of too many other people who fit the bill as well as the Hanson Brothers! We’re excited to have the guys join us on game day and know it will make an already incredible experience that much better.”

Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer is a one-day road hockey event in which teams play five games through the course of the day. In 2015, the event set two Guinness World Records and is now the largest road hockey fundraising event in the world. To date, more than 8,500 participants have taken part. This year, Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer is expecting more than 1,500 participants and thousands more fans onsite to join their loved ones throughout the day.
